Crystal Group Announces Space Saving RS112S13

Hiawatha, Iowa, USA – Crystal Group Inc., a trusted manufacturer of rugged commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) custom-developed computers, displays, switches, and storage devices, announced today the release of the RS112S13 Rugged Embedded Computer. The shallow depth computing system is ideal for rackmount applications in tight confines like airborne command centers, unmanned vehicles, submarines, ships, server rooms, and process control centers.
“The RS112S13 is part of a cross domain networking system supporting the Solaris legacy operating system, as well as multiple versions of Windows and Linux operating systems,” said Crystal Group’s Technical Director, Brian Rinehart. “Having the ability to use a legacy operating system software saves application developers and end users a huge reinvestment of time and money by precluding software porting and additional software development.”
The embedded computer operates in harsh environments where size, weight, power, and moving part limitations are a concern. Weighing between 6-14 lbs. dependent on configuration requirements, the unit has a short 13″ chassis depth and offers standard rack mounting options. “The size allows application nodes within cross domain networks to fit where other networked solutions may not fit,” added Rinehart.
The RS112S13 is fanless and features an exceptional operating temperature range of -15°C to +55°C with rotational media and -40°C to +55°C with solid state hard drives.
Compact construction of the RS112S13 supports two removable 2.5″ SATA drives or one 3.5″ HDD, one mini PCIe w/mSATA internal slot, two Ethernet ports, two front USB ports, up to four back USB ports, up to four Ethernet ports, DVI/I or VGA, HDMI, and VESA display port. The unit also offers low power AC or DC options for environmental flexibility.
