Sandy Bridge offers a highly integrated architecture that promises to boost performance, reduce power need, and lower recurring systems costs. Sandy Bridge microarchitecture provides designers a modular and expandable framework that will reduce the system component count and power dissipation while simplifying future updates.
This new architecture combines a variable number of CPU cores; an integrated graphics processor, Last Level Cache (LLC), and a system agent/memory controller that all communicate using a scalable on-die ring interconnect system. The motherboard system provides dual socket R LGA2011 E5-2600 CPUs with the Intel® C602 chipset, up to eight (8) DIMM slots for 256GB 1600MHz DDR3 ECC RAM, with five (5) PCIe slots and one PCI. The system is capable of ten (10) SATA ports and two (2) GBLAN.
